Area Description

Newlands is an upmarket suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. It is located at the foot of Table Mountain in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town where modern homes adjoin historic cottages, homesteads and family homes in quaint tree lined avenues. Home to UCT, Kirstenbosch, Newlands Rugby and Cricket Stadium and much more.

The fresh water springs in Newlands have played an important role in the development and history of the area. The springs are locally renowned for the high quality of the water they produce. It is still a popular practice for Capetonians to collect water at the springs. The main spring is located at the South African Breweries on the corner of Main and Letterstedt Road.
